building rhythm together for christ's love

Our Vision and Mission

Westminster Presbyterian Church DC grounds its vision and mission in Scripture because “Scripture bears witness to the Word of God, revealed most fully in Jesus Christ” (Book of Order). Thus Scripture provides WPC the best guide on how to respond to the injustices and inequity in our society. Scripture reminds us that God is concerned with more than our religious practices and rituals. “God is the helper of the underdog, defender of the weak, protector of those who despair, savior of those without hope (Judith 9:11). As followers of Jesus Christ, Micah 6:8 tells us what God requires of us.

8He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.

And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy

And to walk humbly with your God.

Vision: As a faith community, WestminsterDC envisions a world where the justice, equity, and love taught by Jesus are lived and enjoyed by everyone.

Mission: WestminsterDC’s mission is to walk with those fighting for justice and equity; to be an ally for truth, reconciliation, and inclusion; to be a community center for civic actions and activities; and to promote the holistic well-being of everyone in Southwest DC and beyond.
