Many of us come to the end of this year reeling and exhausted from the devastation of physical and emotional storms. We’re ten months into a pandemic and headed for a second wave. Election Day is over, we have the promise of a “kinder-gentler” President, but the wounds of division and mistrust are open and deep. It’s been a year of alarming loss due to the pandemic, formidable fires, horrendous hurricanes, and police violence that suggests that some lives don’t matter. Where do we find the strength to continue?
Psalm 62:5-8 reminds us that we can trust God at all times. God who has done great things in the past is faithful to us even now. In this season of Advent, a season of anticipation and expectation, we know good news is coming!
In the midst of our loss, grief, fear, rage, and despair, let’s wait for Christmas together in community. The upcoming Advent Study is an opportunity to go deeper in our faith to find the strength and hope for the days ahead.
Join us for a weekly Advent Study group based on God is in the Manger: Reflections on Advent and Christmas by theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
